M177 - RS 830 & RS 830+
The larger version of the four-liter M177DE40AL biturbo V8 engine from AMG is installed in many Mercedes classes as 63 AMG models. The only exceptions here are the C-Class and the GLC-Class, in each of which only a smaller variant is installed ex-works. In the standard version, the performance of the large unit already ranges from 571 hp to 639 hp. But of course this is not enough for us. In addition to the purely software-based performance levels, the RS 830 is the entry into the world of hardware-based tuning: In this version, which has an official TÜV blessing for german cars, the number stands for the performance, i.e. 830 hp; the maximum torque is 1,100 Nm. The gain is achieved here through upgrade-turbochargers in combination with - known from the other stages - the sports air filters, the downpipes with sports catalytic converters and the optimized software for the three control units (engine, transmission, drive train).
The conversion of an AMG to the RS 830+, which is one of four available, hardware-based stages of performance increase, is achieved with the help of ball-bearing upgrade-turbochargers, sports air filters and new downpipes with sports catalytic converters, as well as adapted software for the control units for the engine, transmission and drive train (CPC). The performance of the first "+ stage" increases to 880 hp and 1,200 Nm maximum torque.
For customers who want their car to be even more powerful, we offer a variant of the tuning for the M177, also called RS 830+, in which, in addition to the previously mentioned measures, the cylinder heads and valve seats are optimised and reworked, and a water/methanol injection is installed. This results in 940 hp and 1,280 Nm of maximum torque.
If even the previous increase in performance is still too small, you can now also get the top version of the RS 830+ stages. Incredible 1000 hp and 1350 Nm are possible. In addition to the previous conversion measures for the 940 hp stage, new high-performance fuel pumps and a completely new intake manifold are also required.
As a highly individual and currently largest tuning stage of the M177 engine, the endurance, durability and stability can be increased through far-reaching conversion measures, and the performance can even be increased again as a result. Since this conversion is individually tailored to each engine, no exact value can be given. but in any case, the performance is over 1000 hp and a maximum of 1400 Nm of torque. This conversion expands the previous stage again and strengthens the internal components of the engine with stronger high-performance fuel pumps (Stage 2), high-performance special forged pistons, hardened high-performance i-beam steel connecting rods, a high-performance intake kit, as well as new Cylinder head studs custom-made from high-strength steel. And in order to be able to safely cope with the enormous torque of the upgrade, the hardware of the gearbox must now also be reinforced.
