Posaidon "C63K RS 680"
Without a doubt: Depending on the throttle position, the furiously hammering sound of the first generation Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sends shivers down the spines of friends of large-volume V8 engines. But compared to the sound, the power of the 6.2-liter V8 engine is aomehow a bit "disappointing", because the M156 engine develops its maximum torque of 600-630 Nm (depending on the model) at 5000-5250 rpm and the maximum output of 457-525 HP is even only achieved at 6,800 rpm. Despite the XXL displacement, there is not much going on in the range of the lower engine revolutions, compared to the performance charts of modern day turbo engines.
To adress this grievance, the owner of the presented C63 AMG Coupé "Edition 507" gave his Benz into our experienced hands. We helped the limited powerhouse by installing one of our own supercharger-kits, and gave it significantly more power, even at the lower engine speed. Overall, the performance rose to now 702 HP and 903 Nm. This represents an even further increase in performance, compared to the basic version of our supercharger upgrade C63K RS680 with 680 HP and 850 Nm.
In addition to the mechanically driven supercharger, the transformation to the POSAIDON C63K RS680+ includes a sports air-filter, a complete sports exhaust system with valve control and optimized manifolds, 76-millimeter downpipes and 200-cell sport catalysts and, of course, the fine tune of the engine electronics. To prepare the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission for the increased requirements, it had to be reinforced. In addition, a new limited-slip-differential has also been installed. Since we removed the electronic Vmax limitation with the performance enhancement, the C63K RS680+ can convert its new power into speed and achieve an impressive top speed of 358 kph.
Given the significant increase in performance, the chassis was also in need of an upgrade: The struts were replaced by a coilover suspension with adjustable damping forces. Rotating on the axles of this POSAIDON C63K RS680+ are now weight-optimized wheels in the dimensions 9x19 inches with 245/35ZR19 on the steering and 10x19 inches with 265/35ZR19 on the drive axle.
